Tomizawa-san, who is well known for leading the Sword Art Online and God Eater franchises, mentioned that from now on he will be in charge of the Tales franchise as well, before explaining his vision for future games.

By working on Tales of Vesperia: Definitive Edition I actually learned a lot and gained a lot of know-how. I learned what is really important for the Tales series and what the fans love. I want to make sure to keep those really important things in the future titles of the series.

I believe that characters and storylines are really important features of the Tales series and I believe that we need to evolve the way of portraying them. Personally, I really want to try aggressively new ways of portraying them. I hope that the fans can look forward to seeing the new titles.”

He also mentioned that Tales of Vesperia: Definitive Edition was the first game of the series released worldwide simultaneously, and he thinks that Bandai Namco needs to do the same in the future as well. That’s really important. While simultaneous releases are challenging in terms of development and schedules, Tomizawa-san pledged to do his best to achieve that goal.

You can check out the full livestream below, with plenty of gameplay of  Tales of Vesperia: Definitive Edition. At the moment, Bandai Namco hasn’t announced any Tales games for consoles just yet, but Tales of Crestoria for mobile platforms will be coming in 2019.

He is also one of the few surviving fans on Earth of the flight simulator genre.
