Many of the antiquated mechanics from the original Resident Evil 2 have been overhauled in the remake, but there’s still the same focus on puzzle-solving, and some of them are pretty obtuse. Here’s what the generator room switch puzzle solution is if you’re stumped.

The generator room switch puzzle is one that anyone who played the PS1 original will remember.

Although it has been slightly changed this time around, the principle is more or less the same: you’re trying to adjust the power levels of the generator to hit the very start of the red.

Unlike the original, this time there are two analog dials which move when the switches are pressed. However, although they move simultaneously, they don’t conduct the same amount of power.

The trick to this puzzle is that while it may seem as though every switch needs to be moved, that isn’t actually the case.

  • The correct combination for Scenario A is: off, off, on, on.
  • The correct combination for Scenario B is: off, on, on, off

Once you have input the sequence correctly, you’ll have then unlocked a doorway that was previously unavailable. This doorway if your fast-track back to the police station and one that you’ll be using frequently from now on.

Beware, though, completing the puzzle triggers some zombie activity. Watch your step.
