In addition to hunting down bad guys in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, players will also get to fight mythical creatures, such as the Minotaur. Without spoiling too much, the Minotaur is one of the few mythical creatures you can face in the game. It’s locked behind a side quest in Messara, where you have to talk to a boy named Ardos to gain access to its labyrinth. If you’ve found the Minotaur and are having trouble, here are some tips to beat the Minotaur in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey.

How to Prepare for the Minotaur

First off, we highly recommend being at least level 38 or 39 before attempting this fight. The Minotaur in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is a level 40 beast, and it can easily kill you in one combo. You’ll want to level up as much as possible before you even think about fighting it.

Once you’re at an appropriate level, take a look at the abilities you have equipped. In our playthrough, we had the Hero Strike ability. In addition to that, we also made use of the Overpower ability, as well as poison build-up.

Try to bring either the poison or fire elemental buff with you. Damage over time is one of the best ways to taking down the big beast, so make use of that.

Once you’ve got your offensive abilities ready, don’t forget to bring Second Wind as well. This allows you to restore health during battle, and trust me, you’re gonna need it.

Getting to the Minotaur

Of course, he’s in a labyrinth. Here’s our video guide showing you how to traverse it and actually get to the boss fight.

Now you’re finally ready to take on the mythical legend in the game. The first phase of the fight isn’t too challenging. Its moves are pretty well-telegraphed, and you should be able to dodge them easily. Watch out for his charge attack, and the AoE slam that can stun you for a moment.

Once you bring it down to half health, the arena breaks, and phase two begins. In this phase, the Minotaur has a new three-hit combo that can be devastating. It’ll start by swinging its axe, then performing a short leap with an overhead swing. Once it lands, it’ll execute another backhanded swing.

Make sure to wait for it to do the backhanded swing before you go in to attack. It’s a little delayed, and could lull you into a false sense of security during the fight.

The boss will continue to use its AoE move in phase two, but just dodge backwards as necessary. You’ll be able to wreck the giant monster before long by just choosing the right moments to strike.

After the fight, don’t forget to loot its body for some sweet rewards. You’ll also get a figurehead for your ship, along with an Atlantis artifact for a side quest.

And that’s all you need to know about how to beat the Minotaur in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. Be sure to check our Assassin’s Creed Odyssey wiki for more information. We’ve also got a list of beginner tips, and Legendary items and Cultists guides to help you out.
