How to Retreat in Valkyria Chronicles 4

Recommended Videos

After a long wait, Valkyria Chronicles 4 is finally here, and series fans can dive into a new entry packed with a brand new story, and more of that tactical RPG gameplay. This time around, we’ve got a new squad and cast of characters to get acquainted with, along with a story scenario that takes place during the same time period as the events of the first game. Battles still play out as tactical, turn-based affairs, where you’ll move your units around on a battlefield and attack accordingly. However, if you ever find yourself in a situation where you need a unit to retreat to safety, we’ve got you covered.

Retreating isn’t always ideal, but it can be very useful when you have a unit that’s injured and cut off, or if you just don’t want them on the battlefield at that point in time. There are a couple of ways you can get a unit to retreat. The first method requires you to manually move the unit to the nearest base, then press the X button on PS4 to get them to retreat. If you’re in the map mode, you can also select a unit in a base, then press the triangle button to retreat.

However, if your unit isn’t in a base, or you’re unable to get them there in time, you can also press triangle after selecting their icon in map mode. This will allow you to evacuate that unit and get them to forcefully treat. We only recommend doing this as a last resort, though, as this will cost you precious CP that could probably be better used elsewhere.

And that’s about all you need to know about retreating your units in Valkyria Chronicles 4. Be sure to check our wiki for more tips and information on the game.
