How Long Shadow of the Tomb Raider Is & How Many Regions There Are

As you go about saving the world in Lara Croft’s latest adventure in Shadow of the Tomb Raider, you’ll explore a variety of different regions, take on formidable enemies, and solve cryptic, ancient puzzles. It’s all the action that fans of the series have known and loved for a while, particularly since the series’ 2013 reboot, courtesy of the talented folk over at Crystal Dynamics. With this being the final chapter of Lara’s ‘transition’ story from fearful archaeologist to hardened badass tomb raider, many players are likely wondering just how long Shadow of the Tomb Raider is, and how many regions they’ll explore along the way.

Shadow of the Tomb Raider’s length ultimately depends on how you want to play the game. If you’re simply there to experience the story and see the credits as soon as possible, you’re going to be looking at somewhere around the 15-hour mark to complete it. Obviously, your skill level with combat and puzzle solving will have an effect on this, too.

If, however, you’re more interested in seeing what the game’s semi-open regions have to offer, there’s a bunch of side content to distract you from the roughly 15-hour story. As such, you could be looking at up to 30 hours to see everything Shadow of the Tomb Raider has to offer.

There are 13 regions in the game, with each bringing its own puzzles, NPCs, and varied landscapes to help keep things feeling fresh along the way. Some of these are simply side areas that you’ll need to venture off the beaten path to explore, so keep that in mind if you’re making a beeline through the main story.

In our own personal experience with the game, we finished the main story with 75 percent of the game world explored, taking us roughly 20-25 hours.

And that’s about all you need to know regarding how long Shadow of the Tomb Raider is and how many regions you’ll explore along the way. For more tips, tricks, and information on Shadow of the Tomb Raider, be sure to check out our ever-expanding wiki.
