EA Has Dropped an Official Debut Trailer for Madden 19

During the 2018 EA E3 conference, formally known as EA Play, the company debuted a trailer for the next game in their popular football franchise, Madden.

In it, the game showed off, more or less, exactly what you’d expect: football.

Madden 19 will be coming this fall on August 10. Per usual, the game will feature updated rosters and new and improved gameplay features. Terrell Owens will grace the cover of the game’s Hall of Fame Edition, but it’s unknown at this time which athlete will be featured on the cover of the standard edition. Beyond that, though, the company didn’t expand on much during their EA Play 2018 conference. They also didn’t mention any single-player story-mode like Madden 18’s Longshot.

Last year’s Longshot saw players rise from the ranks of not-so-pro player, and into the realm of professional play, via the NFL draft. The story was praised for it’s innovation in the series, and its use of popular figures such as previous Miami Dolphins quarterback, Dan Marino, and actor Mahershala Ali.

Like last year’s entry in the franchise, Madden 19 will utilize EA’s Frostbite engine, which the company uses in some of its other titles such as Star Wars Battlefront and Battlefield. Madden 19 will be available on PS4 and Xbox One. It will also be coming to PC, which is a first for the franchise in over a decade, via Origin Access Premiere.

For those not familiar with the franchise, at this point, it’s one of the only football games on the market and the only one that uses the NFL license. EA has released annual versions of the game since 1990 and they’ve been doing so under the title of Madden since 1993, when they officially acquired the rights to use the NFL, its logos, its players and more. The franchise originally started as a collaboration between EA and John Madden, and evolved into what it is today over the years. Like its other sports franchises, EA continues to innovate in the space of football with new mechanics, online component improvements and more. It’s other sports games includes Fifa and NBA. Fifa is their most popular sports franchise worldwide, but in the American market, Madden might reign supreme, likely due to the popularity of the sport in the country.
