Humble Bundle is an excellent way for gamers to purchase video games for pennies on the dollar. While most games focus on a single-player experience, occasionally the site offers games designed to be played with friends. And that’s the focus of Humble Bundle’s latest bundle: manic multiplayer.
The Hooked on Multiplayer bundle, like most of Humble Bundle’s offerings, starts at only a buck for three games. This tier offers Stick Fight: The Game, Rampage Knights, and Tumblestone. Stick Fight, as the name suggests, is a quirky and silly fighting game where everyone is a stick figure. It is full of destructible levels and implements of destruction for players to pummel their opponents. Plus, Stick Fighter features procedural animations taken from the deceptively named Totally Accurate Battle simulator. Rampage Knights, meanwhile, is a 2D co-op beat ’em up that tasks players with crawling procedurally generated dungeons. The layouts, monsters, traps, and lootable weapons and spells are all random, which ensure that no two playthroughs are the same. And, if gamers want something a little more puzzle-oriented, they should look no further than Tumblestone. Not quite Tetris or Puyo Puyo (or Puyo Puyo Tetris), in Tumblestone, players frantically fight each other in a race to clear their boards of colored blocks. The game is much more complicated than it sounds. Moreover, this tier comes with 10% off Humble Bundle’s Humble Monthly subscription and soundtracks to Stick Fight, Rampage Knights, and Tumblestone.
The second tier, the “pay more than the average” tier, constantly shifts around price-wise, so participants have to consider how much they want to pay for Besiege, Duck Game, and Hover (as well as all the games from the first tier). Besiege, unlike the other games on offer, is mostly single-player based. But, it’s still a great game that requires players to construct inventive medieval siege engines. No design is too insane, so long as it kills, maims, burns, and plunders. On the other side of the spectrum is Duck Game. As the name suggests, it’s a silly game about ducks who jump around an arena and shoot the feathers off each other. And there’s a designated quack button. It’s the kind of silliness we’ve come to expect from Adult Swim. The final game in the second tier is Hover, which is one great big sandbox game clearly inspired by Jet Set Radio. The game features a bevy of missions that can either be tackled solo or in drop-in-drop-out multiplayer, but players can also challenge their friends to unique multiplayer missions, many of which are built by the community.
The final tier in Humble Bundle’s multiplayer bundle is $14 and only includes one item (plus all the games from the previous two tiers and $2 Humble Store credit for Monthly subscribers), but since that game is the insanely popular Rocket League, you might not need too much convincing. The game has taken the Internet by storm and has retained its popularity even to its day, thanks to its frantic action and unique concept.
All of the games available in Humble Bundle’s multiplayer bundle are only playable on PC via Steam, but gamers shouldn’t feel pressured to immediately buy the bundle. It will be available for the next two weeks.
