Square Enix Is Finally Going to Clean up That Unpleasant Looking Chrono Trigger PC Port

A port of one of Square’s best RPG’s ever, Chrono Trigger, released earlier this year for Windows via Steam, the big problem with this release was that the game was essentially just ripped from the iOS/Android version, which is just plain ugly and unappealing, especially to anyone who’s played the original Chrono Trigger on SNES or even on the DS.

As you can see from the image above, the main issue is the font and battle interface, which just looks like a mobile game and is definitely not a good look for one of the best video games of all time. Luckily, Square Enix has just announced that they will cleaning up the PC port of Chrono Trigger very soon, with multiple patches coming in the next few months. The first and biggest change coming is the option to switch between the current graphics to the original graphical style that the SNES version featured.

Not only will Square Enix be fixing up the port, but they are also extending the availability of the Chrono Trigger Limited Edition to April 30, which comes with the game, a specially edited five-song medley, composer Yasunori Mitsuda’s digital liner notes, and six PC wallpapers.
