How to Override More Machines – Horizon Zero Dawn

Recommended Videos

Some Horizon Zero Dawn trailers have shown players that Aloy can override the machines that wander the Earth and use them to her advantage. She can hop on the back of some to help her traverse the open world faster, or have another stand by her side in battle. At the start, you’ll be limited in how many machines Aloy can override, but there is a way to broaden your overriding horizons.

Each machine in Horizon Zero Dawn is allocated to a particular symbol. This is shown next to the machine’s name when you scan it with your Focus. This symbol then corresponds to one of the five Cauldrons in the game. In order to be able to override more machines, you’ll have to override the core in the rest of Horizon Zero Dawn’s Cauldrons. Be warned, though, these are often heavily guarded by enemies, so make sure you’re well prepared for a fight.

Once you’ve overridden a Cauldron’s core, you’ll then be able to override more machines in the same way you override the others. Simply ensure you’re up close and undetected, and hold down the Triangle button when the button prompt appears. Once the bar has filled, the machine will now fight by Aloy’s side.

That’s all you need to do to override more machines in Horizon Zero Dawn. For more tricks, guides, and information for the game, be sure to check out our wiki guide.
