South Park: Fractured But Whole Will Have a Fart Device at Gamescom, Yes, Really

So...yeah.

Anyone who’s watched South Park knows that farts are one of the many staples of their humor. For the upcoming Fractured But Whole game, Ubisoft decided to take that further by giving the New Kid a new power as the kids play as superheroes. That means, as one employee puts it…is the power of your ass. To help with that, Ubisoft created the Nosulus Rift, a device that looks like a rebreather that you strap to your nose.

You wear it while playing the game, and you can actually smell the farts of the New Kid, Cartman, or whoever. They explain all of this via an Apple-style video that goes into the process of creating it, from the design to one guy smelling thousands of butts in order to make sure the stench (or “Fartgrence”) was just right. Again, this is all real.

If you’re heading to Gamescom next weekend, you’ll be able to experience it for yourself, because it’ll be there. So…that’s a whole thing. You can check it out for yourself here.

South Park: The Fractured But Whole will come to the PS4, Xbox One, and PC fart free (maybe?) on Dec. 6. No clue yet if there’ll be a special edition that comes packaged with the Nosulus Rift, but it seems likely.
