The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky the 3rd – PC – May 3
The next big JRPG launched right this week actually, with the long-awaited conclusion to the Trails in the Sky trilogy. If you haven’t played it yet, Trails in the Sky is a highly character-focused series, telling the story of Joshua and Estelle, two young Bracers that end up embroiled in a battle for the world.
Trails in the Sky the 3rd, however, doesn’t focus on Estelle and Joshua this time, although they still have an important role. Returning character Kevin Graham of the Septian Church takes the spotlight, along with a Nun named Ries Argent. The series’ traditional turn-based combat returns again with the same emphasis on positioning and exploiting enemies’ weaknesses. A new rush system does change things up, however, by allowing you to take two actions at once.
Playing the Trails in the Sky trilogy from the start is going to be most satisfying, as there’s some truly touching character growth and stories that happen. However, Trails in the Sky the 3rd is a full-fledged JRPG that can also stand on its own.
