Whether you’re a die-hard Mortal Kombat fan or just someone who has heard of the series, you probably know that “fatalities” are the series signature calling card. After defeating an opponent, the words “Finish Him” or “Finish Her” appear on the screen. If the winning player hits one of several fatality button combinations, a gruesomely explicit cutscene begins. We see how that specific character would end another’s life in his/her own comedically violent style and fashion.
In addition to the standard fatalities, Mortal Kombat X, like some of its previous counterparts, is also offering brutalities. These are similar to fatalities but most brutalities are actually preformed towards the end of a match as opposed to after the match is over. The catch is that in order to perform them, the player must complete specific challenges during the match, such as finishing with a certain move or blocking a certain number of times, etc. Fatality and brutality moves are awesome to watch, but if you want to watch them in your own game instead of just on Youtube, you’re going to have to unlock them first.
