Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2: How to Get Kaioken

This article is over 8 years old and may contain outdated information

Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 features iconic characters and their famous moves from the hit manga and anime. Kaioken is one of the famous moves that Goku pulls off to beat up Vegeta in the Saiyan Saga, and it’s no doubt a game changer while you don’t have the Super Saiyan transformations.

In order to get Kaioken, you must complete the optional objectives in the Parallel Quest titled “Invade Earth.” It’s one of the first  quests you have access to so you can do this virtually at the beginning of Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2, granting your created character a powerful transformation early on in the game. To clear secret objectives, beat all the enemies and keep Nappa alive. If you do it fast enought, Goku will revive and you’ll have to face him after he activates Kaioken for himself. Once he’s defeated there is a chance that you will get the awoken skill from him. If not, just do the quest again until you do.

It can be assigned on your move set (hit the pause menu while you’re in Conton City in order to customize that), and it allows you to power up mid battle when you activate it. You’ll be able to hit harder and faster, as well as unlock the ability to use powerful moves. Kaioken 4x kamehameha is no joke. However, keep in mind that it depletes your stamina. Once that runs out, you will no longer be buff and red, and you will be dazed for a bit. This will leave you open to attacks, so be careful.

That’s really all there is to it! It’s an early move you will learn, and you’ll be able to wreck some fools with it. Be sure to check back to Twinfinite for more help with Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2. We have a wiki full of guides and tips!
