Link’s Awakening on Switch is a gorgeous remake of the 1993 Game Boy classic and with it comes all of the puzzles and trading sequences that you might remember if you’ve played the original. If you’re stuck on this part of the game, here’s how to wake the walrus up in Link’s Awakening.
How to Wake the Walrus Up
When you first make your way into Animal Village, one of the towns towards the bottom-right corner of the map, you will find that a sleeping walrus is blocking the path to Yarna Desert, the next dungeon area.
You can use the pegasus boots on him, you can hit him with your sword, you can throw a bomb at him but none of these things will work. The walrus will only be awakened with the sound of Marin’s voice, the girl from Mabe Village that originally found you washed up on the shore.
So now, you need to go and find her, but she won’t be chilling in the village like she usually does, and you can probably guess where she is.
Go back to Toronbo Shores, the place you two first met, and she will be there waiting for you and once you two have a small chat, she’ll escort you to the walrus and then she’ll sing him a song that’ll wake him up.
To sum things up:
- Once you find the sleeping walrus in Animal Village, you need to get hold of Marin.
- Marin will be waiting for you at Toronbo Shores, near the same spot where you first met.
- Take Marin back to the walrus and she’ll wake him up, giving you access to the desert.
