How to Beat Great Rampo Easily in Yooka-Laylee

Recommended Videos

Each of Yooka-Laylee’s Grand Tome worlds has a boss for you to defeat. Of course, these aren’t just there for you to test your mettle, they’ll also reward you with a Pagie if you succeed in your battle. The Tribalstack Tropic boss is known as Great Rampo, and you’ll need to have first expanded the Grand Tome before you can even reach him.

Once you do, you’ll be faced with a pretty steep ramp. At least we know where he got his name from now. To beat Great Rampo, simply press RT (R2 on PS4) to use your roll ability and make your way up the ramp. Be careful of the logs he rolls down towards you, and use A (X on PS4) to jump over these. Take your time navigating these and making your way up the ramp, as you’ll slide all the way to the bottom if you get hit.

Once you’ve made your way to the top, Great Rampo will start breathing fire from his mouth. Again, time your jumps to avoid this. Once he stops, you’ll see some teeth appear in his mouth. Use your tail attack X/ Square to knock the teeth out.

Rampo will then send you right back down to the bottom and his rolling logs will fall in a different, more intense pattern. Rather than trying to weave in between these, just stick in one lane and jump over them. Remember, you don’t have to permanently be moving as your roll move will allow you to stick to surfaces. Rinse and repeat the process when you reach the top and he’ll send you down one last time. Take your time getting to the top one last time and remove his teeth and Great Rampo will finally fall.

That’s all there is to beating Great Rampo in Tribalstack Tropics. For more tips, guides, and information on Yooka-Laylee, be sure to check out our wiki.
