Climb – XCOM 2

In XCOM 2, you’re a commander telling soldiers what they need to do around the battlefield. Oftentimes, this means you’ll be sending your squad on rooftops or to second floors. Not only will enemies or objectives sometimes be there, having the higher ground is a good place to be in the middle of battle.

In order to send your troops to a higher up spot, you first need to change the level that you’re looking at, essentially zooming out. To do this, simply scroll on your mouse wheel to see upper levels or lower levels on a battlefield. This is one of the many camera changes you can do. To see more of them, check out our guide for changing the pesky camera angle. On console, you’ll want to hit up on the directional pad to move up levels and get a view of a roof. At this point, you can then instruct your soldier to climb onto the roof. They’ll use whatever method gets them there faster.

Once you’re looking at the appropriate level, simply move your soldier as you normally would by right clicking on the spot. They will automatically climb their way up there using the fastest route.
