Playing Multiplayer Co-op in A Way Out
Developed by Hazelight Studios, A Way Out is a narrative-driven game with mandatory co-op. That means that you can’t complete the game alone; you need to have a second player with you to go through the story together. Thankfully, the game makes it pretty easy for you to play with friends, whether you want to do so locally or through online multiplayer co-op.
If you want to play the game locally, all you have to do is connect a second controller to your system. When you boot up the game, choose the Play Local option from the main menu and the second player has to press the X button (or A if you’re on Xbox One) to get hooked up. You can then start the story together. If you want to play online, you can choose the Play Online option from the main menu and invite someone from your friends list to join your game session. Do note that your friend needs to either own the full game or at least the Friends Pass free trial version of A Way Out.
The Friends Pass version can be bought off whichever digital storefront you’re using, and your friend can only access the game once they’ve received a session invite from you. Once both players are connected, you can start playing the game in co-op.
