Story Quests are Level Scaled

There are a lot of battles throughout Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope including story quests, side quests, and even random encounters. While the story quests are the only ones required to push the main story along in the game, you are likely wondering if you need to do all the side quests to level up enough and complete the story.

Story quests actually scale to the level of your party so there is no way to be underleveled or overleveled when you enter one. This allows players to be consistently challenged throughout the game or focus on the story without having to grind experience points to take on bosses or individual levels. This said, leveling up does get you more skill points so you can upgrade your skill tree.

Side Quests are Optional but Worth it

As mentioned above, you do not need to do every side quest in the game to be able to push the story along. However, skipping the side quests may have you miss out on some of the extra goodies you can get from earning Planetary Coins or additional Skill Prisms to upgrade your characters.

Skill Prisms are used to unlock powers in your skill tree and can make your party even stronger when they enter a battle. Planetary Coins are earned from completing a side quest and they can be used to buy a special mission to unlock a spark, level up your sparks, or some of the extra memories and weapon skins. These all go toward enhancing your characters and building up the lore behind the planets.

Use the Tacticam, Especially in Boss Fights

The tacticam allows you to scout out the battlefield before and during the battle so you know where the enemies are and their strengths and weaknesses. Using this feature before entering a battle will ensure that you can choose the right party, equip the right Sparks, and gather all the intel that will lead to victory.

Using the tacticam is easy. All you have to do is click in the left joy stick and you’ll be given control over Beep-O who can freely move along the battlefield and provide information on any enemies. Press A on an enemy to see their range of movement, weaknesses, and resistance. Bosses are especially powerful so be sure to check their info before approaching.

You can Reassign Skill Points

Skill trees can be a scary feature for players because they really require you to know what type of fighting style you want to use to build your party. Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope takes away that anxiety by giving players the freedom to change their skill trees at any time with no penalty. This means that you can choose some skills, try them out, then decide if you want to keep them or not.

Your heroes will earn one skill point every time they level up. Their max level is 30 so once you max out, you will have a total of 30 skill points to distribute on every individual character. There are more skills than you can buy so you will have to pick and choose, but luckily, you can test them all out to find your favorites.

Save your Spark Potions for Level 4 and 5 Upgrades

Spark Potions can power up a Spark to the next level instantly without the need to spend your Star Bits. They are a powerful item that can really help you get the most out of your Sparks, but they are also in short supply. Each planet has two available to purchase in the shop and more that you can find through exploration, but once you’ve obtained them, that’s all you’re getting.

We recommend saving those Spark Potions for the level four and five upgrades because the first upgrades are relatively cheap compared to those. Leveling up to two only costs 100 Star Bits and leveling up to three only costs 200 star bits. It’s easy to get the Star Bits to handle those upgrades, so don’t do it even if you are tempted.

These were five things you should know before starting your adventure in Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope. Now you are ready to go off and recruit all the Sparks to help you save the Galaxy and bring peace to the Mushroom Kingdom.
