What You Can Do in Tekken 7 VR

Tekken 7 is finally upon us (you can check out our review here). Thanks to its large roster of unique fighters, tighter fighting mechanics, and solid story, it’s definitely a game that you should pick up if you’re into the fighting genre in any way. There’s plenty of new features, one of which is a Tekken 7 VR mode. Hearing a long-running fighting game’s title and VR in the same breath can be a bit of a head-scratcher leading many to wonder just what to expect. Don’t worry, we played with it and we’ve got you covered.

If you play Tekken 7 on a PS4 you can use the PlayStation VR headset to try VR Mode. First you have to actually connect your headset before you can enter the menu, once you do, you’re off to the races. This mode gives you two options: Battle or Viewer.

Viewer lets you customize characters like you normally would and view them in a 3D viewing space. You don’t have complete freedom of motion though as you’re limited to the same controls as if you were playing normally. The only difference is that you can zoom in a bit more and try to get better angles.

Battle is really just practice mode on a single stage. You can choose any fighters and shift the camera to be over your shoulder if you’d like and even zoom in on the action. That’s all there is that you can do right now.

You can get some nice screenshots if you try hard enough, but that’s about it. For more on this brand new fighter, be sure to check out Twinfinite.
