How to Upgrade Vehicles in State of Decay 2

Recommended Videos

Just about any of the vehicles you can find in State of Decay 2 will make your scavenging life a thousand times easier. That is, until you hit too many zombies and it explodes in a burst of flames. Fact of the matter is, our standard cars simply aren’t prepared for the… undead conditions of State of Decay 2’s zombie apocalypse, and so you’ll want to upgrade vehicles whenever you get the chance.

In order to upgrade vehicles, you’ll first need to get your hand on a Vehicle Upgrade Kit. These can be purchased with Influence from some of the limited-time traders that occasionally appear in State of Decay 2, so be sure to check them out whenever they pop up. The easiest way to get Vehicle Upgrade Kits, though, is by building an Auto Shop and ensuring you have someone who has Mechanics skills in your community. As long as you do, you can craft whatever Vehicle Upgrade Kits you need directly from the facility’s menu.

Once you’ve got the upgrade kits you need, make sure to park your vehicles in the parking spots at your base. From there, you can then either walk over to the front of the parking spot and press Y to upgrade vehicles when the option appears, or press the Views button and access it from your Base menu. Now, simply select the vehicle you want to upgrade, confirm you want to use your Vehicle Upgrade Kit, and that’s all you need to do to upgrade vehicles in State of Decay 2.

That’s really all there is to it. If you’ve got any more questions on the topic, or just on State of Decay 2, be sure to reach out to us in the comments below. Alternatively, check out our State of Decay 2 wiki for more tips, tricks, and information.
