State of Decay  2 is a tough-as nails zombie survival game developed from Undead Labs. The game drops players into an unforgiving and dangerous world, and tasks them with building and maintaining a safe haven for would-be survivors. There’s a heavy emphasis on survival mechanics throughout, with players frequently going on runs for new gear, resources and crafting materials. There are missions to complete, dynamic events to overcome, and several base-related challenges to tackle. The game is being offered at a lower price than you might think. It costs $29.99 on both Xbox One and Steam.

State of Decay 2 will also be included as part of Xbox Game Pass at launch, Microsoft’s gaming subscription service. For subscribers, State of Decay 2 can be downloaded on launch day for free. The service already includes recent games like Sea of Thieves and Gears of War 4, and is set to include all first-party releases in the future, like Crackdown 3. If you’ve yet to make the jump into Xbox Game Pass, you can make use of the 14 day free trial being offered to new subscribers. This will give you full access to the library of games, including State of Decay 2, so it’s definitely worth considering. After the free trial it’s $9.99 a month to continue to have access to the free game library.

There are currently two versions of State of Decay 2 to choose from. As well as the Standard Edition, there is also an Ultimate Edition. The Ultimate Edition costs $49.99 and includes a four day early access key, State of Decay: Year One Survival Edition, two new content packs which add vehicles and clothing, as well as a copy of the main game.
