What the Best Outposts Are in State of Decay 2

Recommended Videos

There are a ton of outposts you can claim in State of Decay 2 to help you out on your conquest to destroy all the Plague Hearts in your territory. While some simply offer a place for you to switch characters or access your base’s inventory, many others offer far more lucrative bonuses for claiming them. As such, you’re probably here to find out exactly what the best outposts are in State of Decay 2.

Unfortunately, we don’t have a definitive list by name of the very best outposts you can claim in State of Decay 2 due to the three separate large maps you can choose from. However, we can still tell you what to look out for so you can get the best outposts in State of Decay 2.

The best outposts you’re going to want to make sure you definitely have as soon as you can afford them are those which can provide you a Power or Water supply. Water Towers, Power Stations, Generators, and other facilities that you’d think would provide these utilities. For these, you’re looking for either a lightning bolt or water droplet when hovering your cursor over the outpost on State of Decay 2’s map. Not only will these provide you with constant power and water to your base, opening up facility upgrades, new crafting options, and generally making it easier to get around your base, it’ll also provide you with a morale bonus in your community. That means any fighting your survivors do in State of Decay 2 won’t be as devastating to your community’s overall morale, nor will too many Infestations, either.

If you’ve already got power and water supplies in State of Decay 2, you’ll want to claim outposts that help bring in the resources that you tend to have low supplies of. For us, we found having outposts that brought in additional food each day were helpful, especially as the more survivors you have in your community, the more you’ll go through each day. However, if you use vehicles a lot and go through more fuel, but have an abundance of food, seek out somewhere that offers daily fuel instead.

Oh, and as a final thing to keep in mind. From what we’ve gathered, no outposts in State of Decay 2 will net you more resources each day for claiming it as an outpost than another. For example, a vet’s clinic will give the same +1 Meds as claiming a larger hospital will.

That’s all you need to know about the best outposts in State of Decay 2. For more tips, tricks, and information on the game, be sure to check out our ever-expanding wiki.
