How to Change Difficulty in South Park: The Fractured But Whole

Recommended Videos

South Park: The Fractured but Whole takes an um, interesting approach to their difficulty setting. There are two difficulty settings. The first is your combat difficulty which is set based on your personal preference on how hard you want combat to be. The second is, well, determined by your skin color. The game states tells you not to worry about that though because your skin color won’t affect difficulty in combat, just every other aspect of your life. In other words, it impacts how people talk to you and how much money you receive.

You set that at the beginning of the game, but you can change it later on in the game. The combat difficulty can be changed at any time by pressing Options/Start. From there, select combat difficulty and decide whether you want to play on Casual, Heroic, or Mastermind. Heroic is your default “normal” setting.

Your skin color you set at the beginning, but that can’t be changed until a little later. Go meet PC Principal at Crunchy’s Micro Brew. Complete his microaggression training and check five people’s privilege. The easiest way to do this is by getting into a few random battles. The Sixth Graders are usually ripe for some microaggressions to check. After that, return to the Micro Brew and he’ll allow you to change your race/ethnicity and skin color again any time you want. This also fills out the character sheet section for race and ethnicity.

That does it for how to change race and ethnicity in South Park: The Fractured But Whole, best of luck heroes and be sure to check our ever-growing wiki for more tips, tricks, and guides.
