Smash Bros Ultimate features many new additions to the series, one of which includes Spirits, which act as perks for your fighter. As you start experimenting with the new Spirits in Smash Bros Ultimate, you may have some questions about leveling them up, so here’s how to level up Spirits in Smash Bros Ultimate.

If you’re wanting more in-depth coverage of what the new Spirits are, how to get them, and how to acquire Spirit Points, we have fantastic breakdowns for you that are sure to help.

Once you’re ready to start leveling up your Spirits, you’ll need to be aware of a few things. For starters, only Primary Spirits can level up, since the Support Spirits only add an effect. Leveling Spirits up increases their stats and power which will, in turn, increase your attack and defense.

It’s also good to know that Spirits cap out at level 99, although some Spirits can be enhanced at level 99 turning them into a brand new one with higher stats, and in some cases a new ability.

You can level up your Primary Spirit anytime you use them in battle, in either Adventure mode or Spirit Board, regardless of if you win or lose. Although, it’s best to defeat high-level opponents to maximize the amount you gain levels.

Your best bet when it comes to leveling up your Spirits is to feed them snacks. To do so, go into the Manage Spirits menu in Adventure mode, or by selecting the Level Up option on the Spirit Board.

You can select a Spirit with A which will bring up the snack menu. From here, you can start feeding your Spirits small, medium, and large snacks, the latter of which will grant more experience. Alternatively, if you’re selecting Spirits before a battle you can pull LZ to bring up the level up menu.

You can acquire snacks by winning matches on the Spirit Board, completing Classic Mode or by purchasing them from the in-game store found in the Vault, or the stores you find on the world map in Adventure Mode. Be sure to visit the store often so you can keep up with leveling up your Spirits.

What’s nice is that the Spirits level up quickly so there’s no need to spend hours and hours working on one fighter.

That’s everything you should know about how to level up your Spirits in Smash Bros Ultimate. Remember, if you’re looking for some more guides or tips, we have an extensive Smash Ultimate guide wiki with all the help you’d need, so please check it out.
