How to Do The Summer Camp Challenge in The Sims 4

Recommended Videos

The Summer Camp Challenge for The Sims 4 was created by Ingridz and pulls much of its inspiration from Simproved’s “The Island Challenge.” In this challenge, however, Sims aren’t on an island. They’re just a group of misbehaving Teen Sims that have been sent off to the Summer Camp for Troubled Teens. Their parents are all hoping that this camp will finally whip their trouble makers into shape but it should be a fair warning that results will vary with this camp. This challenge will task you with having a minimum of three Sims complete the summer camp course but there is a slight possibility that not every Sim will make it to the finish line alive.

Getting Started

The most obvious thing you’ll need to start the Summercamp Challenge is your group of troubled and misbehaving teens who have been sent off to camp by their parents. While you’re allowed to have up to eight teens at the camp at one time, you’ll start out by making only four Teenage Sims. You can make each look however you want and you have complete freedom when it comes to setting their aspirations. The only requirement is that each Sim must have at least one bad trait. You can get wild and make each Sim just the world type of person you can think of but only one bad trait it required for the challenge.

Make sure each Sim has a cheap photographic camera in their inventory and then add $100 to the household money for each Sim in the camp. So in the beginning you’ll start out with $400 but add another $100 every time a new Sim is added.

For your settings, all you’ll have to do is disable aging. You are not required to use any mods for this challenge although using MC Commander is recommended. If you’d rather not deal with mods, you can still play the challenge by using cheats instead.

You also have creative control when it comes to building your camp but you can easily download Ingridz’s camp from the gallery. Find Ingridzcoco and download the lot named Summercamp Challenge. The last thing you’ll need to get started is to make sure you have a pair of dice on hand. If you don’t have want to use physical dice, an online app or an app on your phone works just as well.

How to Play

The goal for this challenge is to have at least three of your Sims finally turn their lives around and earn all of the badges that will be available to collect at camp. Once any of your Sims earn all 10 of the badges, they will be allowed to leave the camp. It’s a challenge that’s much easier said than done. Keep in mind that you don’t have to earn these badges in any particular order and every time a Sim gets a new badge you will also reward them with $100.

You can actually download each of the badges as in-game content here.

Badges to earn:

  • Lovebirds: Get a boyfriend or girlfriend in camp
  • Smells Fishy: Keep fishing until you have 5 different types of fish in your inventory
  • Die Another Day: Survive 10 days or more at the camp
  • My Name is Chef: Get to Level 5 Cooking Skill
  • A Postcard for Grandma: Get to Level 5 Photography Skill
  • Roasted Chicken: Light 5 campfires
  • Sweaty Feet: Go 3 days without taking a shower or bath
  • My Best Pal: Make friends with 5 Sims in the camp
  • Garden Delight: Get to Level 5 Gardening Skill
  • The Anti-Badge: You get this badge by losing a different badge (I.e. lose your boyfriend or girlfriend, have less than 5 fish in your inventory, have less than five friends at camp, etc.)

Collecting this badges may seem like an easy enough task, but the Sims community doesn’t believe in making challenges like this a walk in the park. At the start of every new day in the game, you’ll need to roll your dice to see what kind of circumstances will be coming your way at camp this time around.

If you roll:

  • 2: Collecting Time – Your Sims have to look for collectibles and then sell them to get 100 simoleons for each Sim in the household.
  • 3: Love is in the Air, and Mosquitoes Are Too –  Two of your Sims have to go on a date in the Tower. In order to go on the date, your Sims will need to have 1000 simoleons in their account. If they are lacking the funds, they’ll need to get to work to save up what they need. Sims can earn money at camp by finding collectibles, fishing, or selling harvested vegetables from the garden.
  • 4: Foes Forever – Two of your Sims have to argue until they hate each other. In addition to finding a new Sim to hate, your Sims will also have two levels of one of their skills removed. You can decide what skill that is.
  • 5: Newbie Alert! – A new Sim comes to the camp. Create a new Sim and add them to the household. If your household is already full then just roll the dice again.
  • 6: You’re in Luck, Cowboy – Pick any badge of your choice to give to the Sim of your choice.
  • 7: Oh Dear, We are in Trouble – One of your Sims has been acting up and it’s time for them to spend some time in the cellar. Pick a Sim that has to go to the cellar. If this Sim has two or more badges they will be released from the cellar once all their needs are in the red. If they have one badge or no badges, this Sim will be forced to stay in the cellar until they die.
  • 8: Test Your Fitness – All your Sims have to jog until they are very uncomfortable
  • 9: Start Over – One of your Sims has to start from square one. Remove all of their budges and knock down their skill levels.
  • 10: Mummy and Daddy Don’t Forget – Your camp goers are in for a pleasant surprise! Their parents have sent a special gift for each of them. Pick out a gift for each Sim that costs between 100 and 500 Simoleons. Be sure to replace whatever money you used to purchase the gifts.
  • 11: Field Trip! – Your Sims are finally getting out of camp! Well, for a little while anyway. Take all your Sims on a trip but if any of them get sidetracked and break any of the camp rules (explained on the next page) they will have to spend the night in the cellar.
  • 12: Kitchen Under Maintenance – The stove is acting up and the repair person will need to come take a look at it. Your Sims can only eat what they manage to grow in the garden or find from collecting.

Camp Rules

There are a few rules that all Sims must adhere to while at camp. If any of these rules are ever broken, the Sim who broke the rules will be punished. Whenever a Sim breaks the camp rules, snatch a skill level away from them. The Sim must also be punished in one way or another. That may be time in the cellar or a more creative punishment but make sure all camp goers are reprimanded for breaking camp rules.

  • All Sims must be awake by 6 in the morning. Even if they haven’t slept long at all they will still need to be up on time. If any Sim wakes up before 6, they won’t be able to leave the cabin until everyone is up for the day.
  • At 10 in the morning all the Sims must come together at the camp’s meeting spot by the flag. At this point, you will roll the dice to determine events for the day.
  • All Sims must be in bed by 10 pm! If two Sims are on a date then they are allowed to have dinner in the Tower and stay up unit midnight.
  • Dinner starts at 6 sharp every evening and all Sims must be done eating by 9 pm.
  • Every day one Sim must be in charge of cooking breakfast and dinner and another Sim will be in charge of washing the dishes for the day.
