How to Play Missions with Friends in Red Dead Online

Red Dead Redemption 2 is an extremely long game, even if you’re planning on just rushing through the story missions. After you’re done with that, however, there’s still the online mode to get into, and this allows you to play with friends. Here’s how you can play missions with friends in Red Dead Online.

Before you can start gallivanting around the wild west with your cowboy pals, you’ll need to either create a posse that they can join, or just join one that your friend’s already in.

To create a posse, bring up your in-game menu by pressing left on the d-pad, then choose the Players option. From here, you can see a list of players who are currently in your lobby. Use the L1 and R1 buttons (or left and right bumpers if you’re on Xbox One) to head over to your Friends tab. Choose the player on your friends list that you want to invite to your posse. It’s as simple as that.

It’s worth noting that there are temporary and permanent posses available in Red Dead Online. The temporary ones are free to set up, while the permanent ones will cost you 200 in-game dollars. If you’re just planning a casual play session with friends, the temporary option should work well enough for you.

Once you’ve sent the posse invite to your friends, they’ll have to accept it before you can be placed in the same lobby. When in a posse together, you and your friends will be able to do missions together and explore the world at your own leisure.

All you have to do is head to the relevant mission marker to start it, and your friends will be able to join you on your quest.

Players can leave the posse at any time by pressing left on the d-pad, and choosing to leave the session. However, do note that players cannot leave in the middle of an active mission, so you’ll have to complete that first.

And that’s all you need to know about how to play missions with friends in Red Dead Online. Be sure to check our Red Dead Redemption 2 guide wiki for more tips and information on the game, or search for Twinfinite.
