With the release of Pokemon Home and now Pokemon Sword and Shield’s first expansion, Isle of Armor, there are a whole host of new Pokemon that can be added to your PC, Pokedex or Party in the Switch games. In this guide, we’re going to be running you through how to get Kingdra in Pokemon Sword and Shield.
Getting Kingdra in Pokemon Sword & Shield
You cannot catch Kingdra in the wild in Pokemon Sword and Shield. Instead, you’ll need to catch a Seadra and evolve it into Kingdra.
Catching a Seadra
To catch a Seadra in Pokemon Sword and Shield, you’ll want to head to the Isle of Armor. Once you arrive here, make your way to Honeycalm Sea that surrounds Honeycalm island.
This is the small island just off the northwest coast of the main Isle of Armor. You should now be able to catch a Seadra fairly easily with an Ultra Ball.
Evolving Seadra Into Kingdra
To evolve your newly caught Seadra into Kingdra, you’ll now need to get your hands on a Dragon Scale. A Dragon Scale can be found just off the coast of the Isle of Armor.
To find it, head to the Training Lowlands and make your way to the shore on the west of the island. Now, you should see a small island very faintly in the distance. Head over to this and you’ll find a Dragon Scale in a Poke Ball.
The final step to evolving your Seadra into a Kingdra is to give the Dragon Scale to Seadra and trade it with a friend. Seadra only evolves when it’s holding a Dragon Scale and traded. Once the evolution animation is finished, have your friend trade it back.
And now, with a bit of luck you’ve got yourself a Kingdra in Pokemon Sword and Shield. For more tips, tricks, and guides, be sure to check out our ever-expanding guide wiki, or check out even more of our coverage on the game below.
