Egg Moves

Unfortunately, Corviknight can’t learn Roost simply by leveling up, and it can only be obtained as an Egg Move through breeding. This means that you need to breed a Rookidee with at least one parent that already has Roost.

Once you have an eligible parent, you can leave it at the Pokemon Nursery with a female Rookidee or Corviknight, then wait a while before you get an egg. Once the egg hatches to give you a Rookidee, it’ll inherit Roost as an Egg Move.

In Pokemon Sword & Shield, the following Pokemon can learn Roost and are compatible breeding partners for Rookidee and Corviknight:

  • Noivern
  • Pelipper
  • Noctowl
  • Hoothoot
  • Hawlucha

It’s also possible to catch a Corviknight or Rookidee out in the wild that already knows Roost, but the chances of this happening are pretty slim, so you’re better off finding one of the above listed Pokemon instead.

What Roost Does

Roost is a pretty powerful Flying-type move that can come in handy for both regular and competitive battles. Here’s the description:

“The user lands and rests its body. This moves restores the user’s HP by up to half of its max HP.”

To recap, here’s how to get Roost on Corviknight in Pokemon Sword & Shield:

  1. Get a female Rookidee or Corviknight.

  2. Get a male Pokemon that knows Roost.

Noivern, Pelipper, Noctowl, Hoothoot, and Hawlucha are compatible breeding partners.

  3. Leave your male and female Pokemon at a Nursery to get an egg.

  4. Hatch the egg to get a Rookidee with Roost.
