How to Evolve Sinistea into Polteageist in Pokemon Sword and Shield

There’s only one way to evolve Sinistea into Polteageist in Pokemon Sword and Shield: You need to obtain the item Cracked Pot and use it on Sinistea the same way you would an evolutionary stone.

Fortunately, there are a couple of ways you can obtain a Cracked Pot, and both can be found in close proximity to each other.

The first way is to nab a free one hidden in the town of Stow-on-Side. To obtain it, head toward the town by heading north along Route 6. Head into the town, and then make your way toward the town’s Gym by going up a large staircase.

As you go up the staircase, look for a ladder you can climb up on your right. This ladder will allow you to explore the roofs of some nearby buildings.

Go up the ladder, and then continue along the rooftops until you see an item on the ground. Pick up the item, and you’ll have gained a free Cracked Pot.

Time needed: 1 minute

So, to recap how to find the free Cracked Pot in Pokemon Sword and Shield:

  1. Head to Stow-on-Side

It’s the town found to the Northwest of the map. You can reach it by heading North on Route 6.

  2. Head toward the town’s Gym

This will take you to a large staircase, on the right of which will be a ladder leading up to some rooftops.

  3. Head up the ladder to your right

This will take you up to the rooftops, where you’ll find the Cracked Pot lying on the ground as an item.

How to Buy a Cracked Pot

If however, you’ve already found and sold this Cracked Pot, there is another way to get one in Pokemon Sword and Shield. Even better, this method is also located in Stow-on-Side.

From the town’s entrance, head left toward the two men at the market stalls with umbrellas. Speak to the man on the right, and then select the “Today’s Bargains” dialogue option.

He’ll then offer to sell you one rare item. There’s a chance this item will be a Cracked Pot, but there’s an equally likely chance it will be one of several other rare items.

If he has the Cracked Pot, he’ll sell it to you for 3,000 Pokédollars.

If he doesn’t offer you the Cracked Pot, exit out of his dialogue and select the option “Next Bargain.” This will show what his next deal will be, and will be for sale after 24 hours.

Advance your Switch’s clock by 24 hours and ask him what his next bargain will be until he says he’ll have a Cracked Pot. Then, advance your Switch’s clock one more time and you’ll be able to buy it from him.

How to Use the Cracked Pot in Pokemon Sword and Shield

Once you have the Cracked Pot in Pokemon Sword and Shield, you’ll be ready to evolve Sinistea into Polteageist.

With Sinistea in your party, open your inventory and select the Cracked Pot for use. Like with evolutionary stones, it won’t be usable on anything else except for Sinistea.

Select Sinistea, and then after the usual Evolving cinematic, you’ll have yourself a Polteageist.
