New Gen 2 Pokemon – Pokemon GO

Recommended Videos

Niantic is updating their popular AR monster catching game, bringing a bunch of new Generation 2 Pokemon into Pokemon GO for players to add to their Pokedex. Of course, it’s difficult to catch ’em all when you don’t know what you’re looking for, so we’ve got you covered.

As part of today’s announcement, Niantic confirmed two new Pokemon are joining the lineup: Togepi and Pichu. These baby Pokemon will only be available through egg hatching, and the company noted several more Gen 2 Pokemon will be available through the same method. It’s likely that the first Generation 2 creatures coming to Pokemon GO will be the seven ‘baby Pokemon.’ If that’s the case, then this is the complete list of new Pokemon added to the game today. We’ll be updating this list as and when more Pokemon are confirmed:

  • Togepi
  • Pichu (evolves into Pikachu)
  • Cleffa (evolves into Clefairy)
  • Igglybuff (evolves into Jigglypuff)
  • Elekid (evolves into Electabuzz)
  • Magby (evolves into Magmar)
  • Smoochum (evolves into Jynx)
  • Festive Santa Pikachu

The last Pokemon on that list was a little surprise that Niantic revealed alongside the Generation 2 additions. From today until Dec. 29, wannabe trainers will have the chance to catch a festive Pikachu wearing a Santa hat out in the wild.
