What the Protagonist’s Name Is in Persona 5

Recommended Videos

If you’re anything like me, and you lack creativity in coming up with cool names for the protagonist in Persona 5, you’ll probably want to know if he has a canon name. After all, the Persona 3 and 4 manga collections referred to their protagonists as Minato Arisato and Souji Seta, so our new protagonist must have one too.

Over the course of the game, you’ll be referred to mostly as Joker, which is your codename. The Velvet Room attendants like Igor, Justine, and Caroline will also refer to him by a variety of other names like Trickster, Inmate, and Prisoner. Your party members will occasionally refer to him as Leader as well, similar to how it’s been in past Persona games. According to the manga, however, the protagonist’s proper name is Akira Kurusu, so if you’d really like to give him a legit-sounding Japanese name but can’t think of one to save your life, this will probably be a good one to go with.

What did you choose to name your main protagonist in Persona 5? Let us know in the comments down below.
