With the release of Persona 5 Royal, Atlus is going all out to make this the definitive version of the game they’d released a couple years back. It introduces tons of new story content, new Confidants, as well as new areas that you can explore in Tokyo. Here’s how to unlock Kichijoji in Persona 5 Royal.

Unlocking Kichijoji in Persona 5 Royal

Kichijoji is a new area that you can explore in Persona 5 Royal, and it comes with a few new facilities and shops that you can make use of. It also serves as a nice hangout spot for some of your Confidants, including the new girl Kasumi, as well as Goro Akechi.

Unlocking Kichijoji is simply a matter of progressing through the story naturally until you’ve cleared the second story dungeon, Madarame’s museum. Once you’ve done so, you’ll just need to pass time until you reach the event of Madarame’s confession.

After that, Ryuji will automatically ask you if you want to hang out, and will then show you how to get to Kichijoji via the subway. You’ll then be able to fast travel there any time you want, but do be warned that you have to pay the 200 yen fare as it’s not covered under your commuter pass.

What to Do in Kichijoji

There are several things to do in this new area. There are vending machines selling cheap HP drinks that can come in handy during dungeon exploration, as well as food shops that sell you HP and SP recovery food items.

In addition to that, there’s also a clothing store that will buy your Sooty armor and gear. You can sell them at a pretty high price, and selling them also rewards you with points, which can then be exchanged for prizes at the store. These prizes include armor pieces and other dungeon-related items.

Finally, there’s also a jazz bar, as well as a darts and billiards place where you can spend time with your teammates. Playing darts with your teammates is extremely useful as it can power up the Baton Pass ability, allowing your teammates to recover health in addition to getting a power up with each Baton Pass.

  1. Play through the game until you clear Madarame’s dungeon.

  2. After Madarame’s confession, Ryuji will automatically ask you to go to Kichijoji with him.
