The Persona series has always been exclusive to PlayStation platforms, but Atlus and Sega have finally decided to release Persona 4 Golden on PC, marking the series’ debut on the platform. Aside from just battling your way through the dungeons in the game, you can also participate in a few side activities such as fishing. Here’s how to catch the Sea Guardian in Persona 4 Golden.
Catching the Sea Guardian in Persona 4 Golden
The Sea Guardian is essentially the legendary fish of Inaba, and also the hardest one to catch. Catching this one requires you to catch the River Guardian, which is required for maxing out the Hermit social link.
River Guardian
First off, make sure you already have a fishing rod. You can check out our guide here on how to get a rod, but essentially, it requires you to get a Tatsuhime Ladybug from the boy at Tatsuhime Shrine, and hand it over to the lady at Shiroku Pub for a fishing hook.
Once you have the rod and have accepted the final request from the Fox, talk to the old man at Samegawa Riverbank to get started. You’ll need the Inaba Jewel Beetle as your bait, and this can be captured at Tatsuhime Shrine with the net.
During rainy days, fish at the river and look out for large splashes and ripples around your bait once you’ve cast the line. If there are no large splashes, reel it in to save your bait, then cast again until you get it.
Sea Guardian
Once you’ve caught the River Guardian, the old man will tell you about the Sea Guardian at Shichiri Beach. Try casting your rod at the beach and you’ll find that it has no effect, then talk to the old man again and he’ll hand over a deep sea rod.
Next, you’ll need the Genji Beetle as bait, which can be caught at Tatsuhime Shrine or bought from Tanaka’s show on Aug. 22. Cast it in, and the process is basically the same: look out for large splashes and ripples when you cast your line to see if you’ve got the Sea Guardian or not, then reel it in.
That’s all you need to know about how to catch the Sea Guardian in Persona 4 Golden. Be sure to search for Twinfinite for more tips and information on the game.
