How to Fast Travel in Octopath Traveler

Recommended Videos

Octopath Traveler is the gorgeous new retro-style RPG from Square Enix and the developers of Bravely Default, exclusive to the Nintendo Switch. The world of Octopath Traveler is sprawling, with various dungeons, towns, secrets, and more. Of course, with a massive world to explore and so many different areas depending on which character you choose, you’ll want to get around as quickly as possible. Luckily, the game does feature a form of fast travel to help with just that. Here’s what you need to know about fast traveling.

Fast traveling is easy in Octopath Traveler, as all you need to do is just open the menu with X, select the world map, and then select whichever town you want to travel to. It’s important to note that the fast travel system will only take you to towns, and you won’t be able to travel to the entrance of dungeons or anything else. Of course, it’s always possible that this could change in a later update, but for the time being it’s still easy enough to get around the game’s world.

Octopath Traveler gives you a choice of starting with one of eight different protagonists, although you’ll eventually meet everyone else by the end. Each protagonist has their own specific traits and abilities, and their stories will weave together in interesting ways. The location each protagonist starts in the world will determine the special trait they can use. For example, Ophilia and Primrose can guide NPCs and even use them as guest summons in battle.

And that’s all you need to know to fast travel in Octopath Traveler. For our full thoughts on the game, be sure to check out our review. Or, if you’re looking for tips, tricks, and guides to help you reach the end of your adventure, our wiki is ready and waiting to help you out.
