No Man’s Sky PSA: Shooting Facility Doors Slowly Will Keep Sentinels Away

This article is over 8 years old and may contain outdated information

Any time you discover an abandoned facility or factory in No Man’s Sky, you’re gonna want to head in there to claim the blueprint that lies in wait. However, before you can get in, you’ll have to destroy the steel reinforced door that’s standing in your way. If you shoot down the door, the Sentinels will be alerted to your presence, and they’ll start attacking you for trying to go to places you shouldn’t.

However, there’s a way to get around this problem. If you simply shoot the door slowly and chip away at it bit by bit, the Sentinels will leave you alone. For instance, I shot the door with a Plasma Launcher and stopped firing after every couple of grenades or so. The Sentinel scout came over to see what was going on, but once the scout left, I continued firing without any repercussions. As long as you aren’t in a rush to break through the door, you should be able to take it down if you fire slowly.

Of course, the Sentinels will leave you alone either way once you get inside the facility, but it’s always better to just avoid combat and confrontation altogether – just something to keep in mind whenever you come across reinforced doors in No Man’s Sky.
