NBA 2K21: How to Upgrade Your Player

Dominating the Neighbourhood courts is the ultimate goal for any NBA 2K21 player, but before you can do that, you need to make sure your character is up to scratch. A visit to the Neighbourhood will present to you many players above your level, above even the level cap you thought was your limit. How to Upgrade Your Player in NBA 2K21

Starting your MyCareer mode, you’ll get to outline how you want your character to play. Whether it’s a behemoth Center or a Nimble Point Guard, you’ll have to set limits on what they can do. Here’s a quick guide on how you can surpass those limits so you can dominate the competition.

In the MyCareer menu, you’ll see a progression tab. Select this tab and it will take you to your stat screen, where you can see all of your in-game stats, and more importantly where you can purchase upgrades.

Use the left stick to navigate left and right to highlight whichever statistic you would like to upgrade. Still using the left stick, move upwards on the highlighted stat and you’ll notice that it raises in value. You’ll use VC to upgrade these stats.

You’ll notice the in the top right corner of the screen, there are a limited number of stat-points you can assign to this particular character. While that is absolutely the case in the beginning, you can exceed this limit when your character reaches an 85 overall rating. After that, the sky’s the limit.
