Multiplayer is the bread and butter of Call of Duty Modern Warfare, and it’s likely where you’ll be spending the bulk of your time in the game. If you’re looking to play specific modes outside of playlists, you’ll need to know how to change multiplayer mode in Modern Warfare.
How to Change Multiplayer Mode in Modern Warfare
When you first start up Modern Warfare, the main option is quick play, which will put you into a rotating playlist of modes like team deathmatch, cyber attack, domination, etc.
The good news is that you can change what’s included in that playlist, basically editing it to whatever you want, even if it’s just one mode.
To do so select the Filter option that’s next to Quick Play, then press X (A on Xbox) on the modes you don’t want to deselect them. If you press square (X) you can also change to Hardcore mode, which lets you edit a separate playlist however you want.
Separately you have Gunfight, which is a small team round-based mode where you need to reach the round cap. Cyber Attack has teams trying to retrieve an EMP device and plant it in a data center. Then you have Realism, which completely hides the HUD and all UI elements, for a deeper experience.
It’s worth playing each mode at least once you see how you like it. You never know, you might find a new favorite. Realism is particularly interesting, and different for the series, although it probably won’t be how you always want to play.
