Mass Effect Legendary Edition: How to Throw Grenades in ME 1, 2 & 3

Grenades are a great way to thin out a large group of enemies in Mass Effect Legendary Edition, or at least deal significant damage to multiple enemies at once. In this guide, we’ll explain how throwing grenades works in Mass Effect 1, 2 and 3, so you’ll always have them at your disposal whenever you need them.

Throwing Grenades in Mass Effect 1

Let’s start off with first game, as it handles grenades a little differently to the other two games in the trilogy.

Throwing grenades is performed by pressing the View button on Xbox, or the touchpad on PS4 and aiming your reticle with the right analog stick to determine where Shepard will throw it.

Once you’ve thrown the grenade, all you need to do is press the View button/ touchpad again in order to detonate and explode the grenade. It’s a bit weird having to use this input, but you’ll get used to it after a while.

Throwing Grenades in Mass Effect 2 & 3

In Mass Effect 2 and 3, your grenades are a power that you can assign to Shepard in the Power Wheel itself. Once you’ve assigned them to a button, simply press that assigned button to throw a grenade.

There is one difference between the two games here, however. In the second game, grenades are not limited by quantity but function on a cooldown system, meaning you’ll have to wait before you throw one.

In Mass Effect 3, there’s no cooldown, but you only have a limited quantity of them before you run out. The same applies for your AI Squadmates, so don’t expect them to be spamming your enemies with them.

There you have all you need to know about throwing grenades in Mass Effect 1, 2 and 3 for the Legendary Edition re-release. For more tips, tricks and guides, head over to our wiki, or see more of our coverage below.
