How to Take Cover in Mass Effect Andromeda

Recommended Videos

You may have noticed in gameplay trailers or from fiddling around with Mass Effect Andromeda yourself that the gameplay is a lot more fluid and hectic than previous entries in the series. There’s always bullets, bombs, and lasers whizzing by, and for some odd reason they tend to be directed towards you. Thankfully you’re able to take cover during combat, keeping you character’s face from meeting the business end of the blast from some futuristic rifle.

Taking cover is easy. All you need is an object large enough to hide your body (standing or crouched) and an un-holstered weapon. Approach the large object with your weapon drawn and you’ll automatically take cover behind it, allowing you to peek out and lay waste to enemies while being reasonably defended.

Just remember, this doesn’t make you invincible. An enemy with a good eye can pick off any body parts not behind cover, and the AI is smart enough to try to flank you. So always stay alert, and move to different cover when necessary. Humanity’s survival depends on it.
