Are There Unlockable Characters in Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite?

Recommended Videos

The arrival of Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite means there is a brand new opportunity to see some of the most popular characters from each franchise duke it out for your enjoyment. While the launch character roster certainly has some impressive characters, you can’t help but wonder if there unlockable characters to help flesh it out even more.

There used to be a time when unlockable characters would come by completing certain challenges or tasks that would unlock more characters for you. Those days, however, are in the past. Fighting games are moving away from that formula and focusing on DLC strategies instead. That’s also the case for Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite as well. You won’t find any unlockable characters by simply achieving certain things in the game. What you see at launch is what you get until Capcom decides to release a new DLC.

While there are no new unlockable characters in Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite, there are still plenty of opportunities to unlock other things in the game. You can switch up the way your favorite character looks by unlocking new colors for them. Each character has four different color options but you will have to unlock the third and fourth options.

You will also have the chance to unlock new stages in the game as well. You will start the game with access to eight stages and you’ll have the chance to unlock eight more if you’d like. I would highly recommend getting all the stages in the game as these are one of Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite’s greatest achievements. The stages make great use of bright colors and have an overall design aesthetic that adds a lot of personality to the game.

So while there are no characters to unlock without paying for the DLC, you can unlock new stages, fighter card backgrounds, titles and colors for free.
