How to Update the Game in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
More than a year since the game released, Nintendo is still adding new content into Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. The newest update adds Link’s bike and his Champion’s Tunic from The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. You can mix and match the bike parts with existing parts, and race to your heart’s content. The new bike and outfit are included for free as part of the game’s new update, so you may be wondering what you need to do to update the game.
Since there’re no automatic updates on the Switch, as there are on other consoles, there’s two ways to update Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. The first way is to simply start the game up. If you are yet to install the update, you will be prompted to do so. Simply choose the ‘Continue’ option, and the download will begin.
The second way to update the game is to press the options button on the Switch home menu when you have the game’s icon highlighted. This will bring up a menu for the game. Scroll down to the ‘Software Update’ option, and go across to ‘Via the Internet.’ Select that and the Switch will search for an update. If there’s one available, which there should be, select that and the update will begin to install. It shouldn’t take too long, and you’ll need it if you want to use the new bike and outfit. Simply wait for the download to complete, and jump into the action. The new bike looks great in game, so we recommend giving it and Link a try in a Grand Prix or two.
That’s all you need to know to update Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. For more tips and tricks on the game, be sure to search for Twinfinite.
