Madden 22 has returned and if you’ve played any Madden game in the last decade or two, you pretty much got the gist of what’s going on here. Over the years, though, EA has added tweaks here and there to the familiar formula to give players better control of their play. One such tweak is the ability to spotlight a receiver, here’s how to spotlight a receiver while on defense in Madden 22.
How to Spotlight a Receiver in Madden 22
Spotlight receiver gives your defense a queue to go ahead and focus on a particular offensive receiver. If there is a spare defensive back, they will go and help keep an eye on this receiver.
This is especially helpful when playing online if you notice your opponent is running the majority of their offense through a specific player and you’re having a hard time stopping them.
To spotlight a receiver in Madden 22, press Triangle on PlayStation or Y on Xbox to open up your coverage adjustments and then press X on PlayStation or A on Xbox to bring up individual players.
From there, select the player you want to spotlight and then press X or A again to spotlight that specific player.
Now, your defense will keep an eye on this player and try to automatically send another defense back over to help out when they get near the spotlight.
It’s not a foolproof strategy, as all it does is change the tendency for defensive backs to run over and help cover the spotlighted receiver when an opportunity presents itself.
That’s all you need to know for how to spotlight a receiver in Madden 22 for PlayStation and Xbox.
