Legend of Mana: What the Cactus Diary Is & How to Fill It In

If you’re at a loss on what the Cactus Diary is and how to fill it in Legend of Mana, rest assured that you’re not alone. It’s one of the many aspects of the game that isn’t properly explained, leaving it as a big question mark unless you stumble upon an outside explanation of its importance.

That’s why we’ve thrown together this guide on the subject. Below you’ll find info on what this part of the game is, how it’s impacted by your actions, and more.

What the Cactus Diary Is and How to Use It in Legend of Mana

The Cactus Diary is basically a record of all the side quests you’ve completed in Legend of Mana.

Found on the post in your room, it can be updated by going back to your home and speaking to the Lil Cactus up in your room right after completing any of the quests in the game. He’ll make a record of the events, which you can then read by going up to the Diary and interacting with it.

If you don’t talk to Lil Cactus, then the diary will never be updated and the different numbered lines will remain unfilled.

There are 67 quests to complete and document in the game, each of which is tied to placing a certain artifact on the map. We’ll add a list of them down below once we’ve found them all.

What You Get for Filling in the Cactus Diary

As for what filling in the Cactus Diary accomplishes in Legend of Mana, it’s not super substantial unless you’re a die-hard completionist.

All you’ll really get in terms of a tangible reward for carefully chronicling all your adventures is a silver Trophy or higher-tier Achievement. Otherwise, all you’ll get are some cute lines written by Lil Cactus framing your exploits in a comical light.

That’s all there is to know about what the Cactus Diary is and how to use it in Legend of Mana. For more on the game, check out our full review of the recent remaster and any of the related articles down below.
