Romance in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2

When it comes to romance in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, it can be broken down into random encounters or the more narrative-driven kind of romance.

Random Romances

This includes visits to the bathhouses and spending time with the ladies there, an opportunistic date at a royal wedding, or anything in between.

Bathhouses

Simply head to the nearest bathhouse and opt for the costliest option. The amount of Groschen you’ll spend depends on the location, but this is the easiest way to give Henry a good time.

Doubravka

During the main quest, Wedding Crashes, Henry will be able to speak to Dubravka’s mother at the party. Choose to dance with the lady in question, and compare her skills of dance to the elves. She will respond favorably, and Henry will spend the night with her.

Black Bartoush or Widow Johanka

These two options are found during the main quest, For Victory! Before the battle of Nebakov, you may choose to speak to either Johanka or Black Bartoush during the party at Trosky Castle. The former requires some persuasion, so tell her that “it was a lovely day for bathing” and follow up with the humorous option. Now, choose to escort her outside and convince her to follow through for the night.

As for Black Bartoush, respond affirmatively to his suggestion and then choose the option of spending the rest of the evening alone.

Lousy Mary

As you progress through the game and eventually reach Kuttenberg, you’ll take on the main quest, Into the Underworld. This is where you will meet Lousy Mary. Speak to her, have a drink, and the option will become available to spend the night together.

Proper Romances

As for the more in-depth relationships Henry can pursue, you’ll need to put in the effort before anything can come to fruition.

Klara

Klara will be the first comprehensive romance option available in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2. Continue the game until the main quest, Back in the Saddle, activates. Win the duel against Michael, and speak to the watching Klara on the side.

After tending to your wounds, talk to her about her life and the knights, and choose to go with her to pick herbs with the option: “I can’t say no to a comely lady”. She will then propose a riddle, which you must answer using the “I think she’s called Klara” option.

Progress further with the quest until the tutorial on pistoles appears. Speak to Klara at the jail, and help her out by either eliminating the guard or using your powers of persuasion. Assist her in treating the wounded people. You will need Schnapps and a Bandage for Mark, and the same for Zwerk in addition to wine and Chamomile Brew.

Head back to Klara’s house, and speak to her. After helping her out with everything, she will be willing to spend the night with Henry and finish this romance.

Margaret

As for Margaret, players can first meet her at the mill southwest of Bylany. Upon hearing her story, you will begin the Damsel in Distress side quest. Confront the miller to learn the truth, and you will either have to pay the fine or deal with the miller in another way.

Now, you must locate Margaret by tracking her down. Head to the unmarked inn west of Kuttenburg and speak to the innkeeper. He will reveal that there is a female beggar outside the inn. You can then speak to Margaret there and help her on a quest for revenge. Procure a noblewoman’s dress from either the tailor or somebody else, and put together your best outfit to boost Charisma, in addition to a sleeping potion.

Return to Kuttenberg and meet with Margaret. Proceed to the tavern, where Latsek is, and wait for him to go to the bathroom. Spike his drink with the sleeping potion, and follow him when he leaves. Pick him up after he falls asleep, and bring him to Margaret. Unfortunately, things won’t go to plan, and you must go to Latsek’s shop next.

Let Margaret carry on the conversation, and upon completion, Margaret will offer a kiss. Accept, and you will complete the romance at the cost of some Groschens, or reject it for 250 Groschens.

Hans

As a character who is almost always with Henry, Hans Capon may not necessarily be your top choice for a romance, but he is available nonetheless. You can set things in motion following the main quests For Whom the Bell Tolls and Back in the Saddle.

When given the choice, pick the “I care about you” option to start. The next juncture will be the quest, Taking French Leave. Rescue Hans once more, and tell him that “We’ll manage it together” while trying to escape.

Moving on, The Italian Job main quest will see Hans appear near Jan Zizka. Speak to him and choose the following options:

  • “We spend too little time together.”
  • “Will you come through the underground with us?”
  • “I’m more concerned about you.”

Once you have reached the underground tunnels, speak to Hans once more and choose:

  • “You overcame your fear.”
  • “The important thing is that you are alright.”
  • “I care about you.”

The final piece of the romance puzzle with Hans comes in Hunger and Despair. Talk to Hans and pick the option to kiss him, which will conclude his romance.

Katherine

The road to romancing Katherine is long and winding, but as one of the more important characters in the game, it’s one worth pursuing.

Keep playing the game until you reach The King’s Gambit main quest. This will see Henry spend time in Suchdol, so be sure to spend it with Katherine when given the chance. Pick the following conversation options when it comes up:

  • “It’s different with you.”
  • “What about a kiss for luck?”

Moving on, you’ll need to complete both of her side quests in Kuttenberg. Starting with The Fifth Commandment, talk to her at the tavern and progress through the relatively linear quest. At the end, choose to let her end the serial killer instead of using the law.

As for The Stalker side quest, speak to her once more to learn about the individual who’s not leaving her alone. Continue with the quest until the end, where you must pass the Speech skill check to get rid of the stalker, bribe him with 200 Groschen, or just attack him.

Once those side quests are done, you must wait until the main quest, The Italian Job, to progress further. Katherine can be found in the area where Jan Zizka is, speak to her in the minting room, and be sure to compliment her. Next, you will find Katherine during the Hunger and Despair main quest. At the infirmary, choose the “I’ll bring help, and everything will be alright again” option, and you can complete the romance once you return to Katherine.

Time Well Spent Buff

Anytime you have engaged in something romantic in the world of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, Henry will receive the Time Well Spent Buff. It is a powerful buff that should always be on your mind ahead of anything major, as it grants +1 to Strength, Agility, and Vitality.

Consider activating it before a combat encounter or when you find yourself trying to move fast and be sneaky. Either way, being more capable never hurts anyone.
