Is Bayonetta 3 Coming to Xbox One?
During The Game Awards 2017, Nintendo’s Reggie Fils-Aime took to the stage to reveal a few surprises for the Switch. Aside from the Bayonetta 1 and 2 port, he added that we’ll finally be getting Bayonetta 3 on the hybrid console as well. With the first game in the series launching on different platforms, is there a chance that the third game will also come to the Xbox One?
Unfortunately, that doesn’t seem to be the case. The reveal trailer alone explicitly states that the game is coming exclusively to the Nintendo Switch, meaning it isn’t heading over to the other platforms. Producer Hideki Kamiya has even addressed the issue in a series of tweets, explaining its exclusivity. He explained that while the first game was funded by Sega, the following two games in the series have all been funded by Nintendo.
In one tweet, Kamiya stated, “As for Bayonetta 3, it was decided from the start that the game was going to be developed using Nintendo’s funding. Without their help, we would not have been able to kick off this project.” He then added, “All of the rights still belong to Sega and Nintendo. The rights owners decided that the game should be made for Switch.”
Xbox One port aside, fans can look forward to Bayonetta 3 on the Nintendo Switch sometime soon.
