How to See Machine Patrol Routes – Horizon Zero Dawn

Recommended Videos

Aloy’s Focus has a ton of different uses in Horizon Zero Dawn, but one of the most helpful when you’re trying to stay out of the way of the machines, is the ability to see their patrol routes. The path is highlighted with purple arrows showing the way they go around the route, allowing you ample time to make a run for it when their back is turned.

In order to see a machine’s patrol route, you’ll first need to activate your Focus by pressing R3. You should now have a purple hue to your screen. From here, simply target the machine whose patrol route you’d like to see. You should then be given the option to press R1 to see its route. Simply confirm this and you’ll see the arrowed line appear on your screen. You can continue to see this with your focus turned off, so you can press R3 to exit this view when you’re ready.

It’s worth noting that not all machines will allow you to see their patrol routes and that’s because not every machine will have one. Some may simply roam the world as they see fit, so you’ll need to give these a wide berth to ensure you stay out of danger.

That’s all you need to know to see machine patrol routes in Horizon Zero Dawn. For more tips, tricks, and information on the game, be sure to check out our ever-expanding wiki guide.
