What Cauldrons Are and What They Do – Horizon Zero Dawn

Recommended Videos

Early on in Horizon Zero Dawn, you’ll come across a NPC that will tell you about how she stumbled upon a Cauldron. These things are guarded by the machines but seem to also be where the machines are spawned from. Not only do these provide you with something else to explore as you play through Horizon Zero Dawn, but the power they harness is also incredibly helpful for you as you make your way through the game.

Cauldrons are places where the robots are made. Cauldrons contain some pretty fancy technology which allows them to create the machines pretty much out of thin air. While this may sound like the last place you want to take Aloy, there is a worthwhile reward for doing so. Each of these Cauldrons has a different sign. Each of the machines in the game also has these signs and this can be found by looking at one with your Focus on. The sign will appear in the top left of the details box that appears.

As you may have guessed, then, by completing Cauldrons and overriding the core within, Aloy can gain the ability to override the corresponding machines out in the wild. This means you’ll gain access to more mounts and fighting buddies each time you clear a Cauldron. They’re well worth completing if you ask us.

That’s all you need to know about Cauldrons in Horizon Zero Dawn. For more tips, tricks, and guides for the game, be sure to check out our wiki guide.
