Gears of War 4: How to Get a Perfect Active Reload

Active Reload – Gears of War 4

Recommended Videos

Active reloading is an incredibly useful mechanic to master in Gears of War 4. Not only will it reduce the amount of time you have to wait until you can start unloading more bullets into the enemy, but it’ll also increase the amount of damage that your weapon deals out with each shot. Here’s how to hit the sweet spot and get a perfect active reload every time.

Active reloading is all about timing. As soon as your clip empties or you hit RB to reload, a small line will start making its way through a bar in the top right-hand corner of your screen just below your ammo count. You should see here that there’s a lighter section, and in this an even smaller and lighter section again.

The light section will allow you to just reload your weapon faster, but getting it into the smallest and lightest section is where the damage boost gets added to your weapon. In order to get this here, you’ll actually want to hit RB just before it looks like the line is inside this section of the bar. This is because there seems to be a bit of a delay between hitting RB and the line stopping. Leave it to too late and you’ll either jam your weapon or just get the speed boost.

It may take a few goes to get the knack for each gun as some weapon’s lines will shoot down the bar a little faster or slower than others. However, give it time and you’ll nail the perfect active reload in no time.
