If you are looking to dive into For Honor, it won’t be long until the game is asking you which of the three warring factions you want to pick a side with. This will actually have a rather noticeable change based on if you play Faction Wars or not. Since players from around the world will be competing for global dominance whatever side you pick will be the units you have to use for this game mode alone. Thankfully, if you decide to just use Quickplay, players can pick any hero, from any faction regardless of their starting choice.

For those looking to go the way of the Samurai, you will need to understand what differentiates them from others. One of the most noticeable differences between this group and the others is the range their weapons offer players. Characters like the Kensei have massive blades that can both keep enemies at a good distance and perform strong melee attacks on enemies. Others like the Orochi can utilize a bow and arrow to pick off targets from a distance.

While they may not be the heaviest of hitters, being able to zone your opponents via your weapon’s length is very important.

Samurais thrive on hit and run tactics in the game along with poking enemies so they cannot retaliate without you being able to dodge. Nobushi is a perfect example of this as she can not only apply bleed effects to enemies but has a plethora of self-healing and sprint based skills. This allows her to get in and out of fights quickly while other, slower opponents such as the Lawbringer are unable to keep up.

If you want versatility and speed then consider joining the Samurai in the game, just be warned that they don’t have a ton of armor.

Viking

Vikings are the brawlers of For Honor and are some of the heaviest hitters in this entire game. Given their intimidating size and strength, Vikings are capable of manhandling opponents with slow, brute for strikes. The Raider class uses a massive axe that can deal an extremely high amount of damage if it connects with an enemy player. This makes them very dangerous on the field of battle if left unchecked as they can plow through a team’s defense easily.

Others like the Warlord can use a shield to bash and batter foes at point blank range before finishing them off with a sword.

These are some of the slower characters in the game, however, for those wanting to add some speed to their Viking team then try the Berzerker. This duel axe wielding character is exceptionally powerful in the game as they have a lot of quick combos that can devastate an opponent’s health bar. Given Vikings are the highest damaging faction, this makes him especially deadly if he can close the gap between fighters.

Vikings are really strong in the game, so if you are going for maximum impact or having a hard time killing people on the battlefield try picking up one of these northern raiders.

Knight

These armored warriors have the highest defense in For Honor, making them very difficult to kill if a skilled player is behind them. Knights feature towering warriors like the Conquerer and Lawbringer are able to completely dominate the battlefield and take a lot of punishment. They also have a wide range of weapons such as a poleaxe and mace that can be tricky to deal with for some classes.

However, Knights also feature more nimble classes like the Peacekeeper who acts like an assassin and can bleed out foes. This offers the Knights a lot of versatility in their lineup and can make them a powerful force to be reckoned with.

Knights are also one of the more balanced factions in For Honor and can be a great starting point for newcomers who don’t want to try and master one of the trickier factions like the Samurai. If you do pick a faction don’t worry because you aren’t bound to them and the only penalty you’ll face will be to your season rewards.

However, you are free to switch it up as many times as you want in the gameto make sure to experiment with the different classes and see which one works best for you in the game.
