Changing Difficulty in Final Fantasy 7 Remake

Changing difficulty can be done at any time, as long as you’re not in combat.

To change difficulty, follow the below steps:

  1. Press Options on your PS4 Controller
  2. Go to ‘System’
  3. Select ‘Options’
  4. Go to ‘Gameplay’
  5. Select the ‘Difficulty’ option and use the d-pad or analog stick to choose your desired new difficulty.

All Difficulty Settings

There are three difficulty options you can choose from the start of the game. These are:

  • Easy
  • Normal
  • Classic

The main difference between Easy and Normal comes in the form of how tricky the combat will be. On Easy, enemies will take more damage, deal less, and generally be easier to take down. On Normal, they’ll be much tougher.

You can also unlock ‘Hard’ difficulty by completing the game at any of the three originally-available difficulties.

What’s Different in Classic Difficulty in Final Fantasy 7 Remake

The main thing to note when playing in the ‘Classic’ mode is that the combat drastically changes. In the ‘Easy’ or ‘Normal’ difficulties, the combat is very similar to Final Fantasy XV’s. Players will have the ability to attack with their melee weapons, but they can also use items, cast spells, and give commands on the fly.

In Classic mode, the character you have control of will attack and move about automatically. Instead, all you’ll have to do is give commands via the little menu down in the bottom left-hand corner of the screen.

This allows you to focus more on giving commands such as using items or spells in combat, rather than being overwhelmed trying to do this while also moving your character around, attacking, and evading incoming attacks.

That’s everything you need to know about changing difficulty in Final Fantasy 7 Remake. For more tips, tricks, and guides, be sure to check out our wiki, search for Twinfinite, or give the links below a click.
